My reflection about my self management in class

In class I can manage my time alright but sometimes get distracted, mainly because of others. Or because i'm tired or don't know what to do exactly.

This is an example of my work from my module Adrenaline

Body Systems WebQuest!

System: The Integumentary System

Go to the following website and read about this system. Use what you’ve read to help you answer the questions below. http://www.innerbody.com/anatomy/integumentary

1. What is the major organ of the integumentary system? _skin___________________

2. Approximately how much surface area does this organ cover? __20 square feet____________

3. What are the 3 layers within this organ?

- Epidermis

- Dermis

- Subcutaneous fat

4. List 4 accessory structures found within this system.

- skin

- nails

- sweat

- sebaceous gland

5. What are the main functions of this system?

Healing

Skeletal & Muscular Systems:

6. What is the main function of both skeletal and muscular systems?

__to protect organs and and support body weight________________________

7. Approximately how many muscles are there in our bodies? _600 muscles__________ 8. Bones? 206___________

9. What type of muscle makes up the heart and why do you think this is so?

Cardiac tissue skeletal muscle tissue smooth muscle tissue so the heart can work

10. What other body system plays a direct role in moving muscles?

heartbeats,nerves

Nervous System:

Watch the following video to help you answer the questions.

http://www.gamequarium.org/cgi-bin/search/linfo.cgi?id=3770

11. Why is the nervous system like a “telegraph”?  Neurons are the basic units that make up the brain nervous system they are special cells that act like a telegraph

12. What are the 2 parts of the Central Nervous System (CNS)? Brain and spinal cord

13. What is the peripheral nervous system? It is the nervous system that contains all the that are not in the central nervous system that connects to skin and limbs and organs

14. What functions are controlled by the autonomic nervous system? The autonomic nervous system controls internal organs like heart and beating rates, blood pressure, body temperature, digestion, metabolism and the production of sweat tears and saliva. Also the balance of water electrolytes like calcium and sodium.

Cardiovascular System

Watch the following video to help you answer the questions.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/anatomyvideos/000023.htm

15. What are the main components of the cardiovascular system?

Heart blood blood vessels the heart pumps blood around the system and blood carries oxygen.

16. How much blood does the average adult contain? 4.5 to 5.5 litres

17. What is the main function of blood? Blood transports oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues

18. What are the different components of blood? Blood has 4 components white blood cells, red blood cells, plasma and platelets.

Respiratory System

http://www.fi.edu/learn/heart/systems/respiration.html

19. What is the main function of the respiratory system? Your lungs are apart of your respiratory system a group of organs and tissue that help you breathe the respiratory system flows fresh air through your body while removing waste gasses

20. What organs are involved in carrying out these functions? Lungs, heart, tissue and blood.

21. What are the differences between the systemic and pulmonary circuits? (click on these tabs in  the menu on the right) the pulmonary circuit moves blood between the heart and lungs the oxygenated blood moves between the heart and to the rest of the body.

Digestive System

Read the following article and answer the questions.

http://www.innerbody.com/image/digeov.html

22. What is the purpose of the digestive system? The digestive system breaks down food in nutrients for your body to use for energy, growth and cell repair and waste you get rid of

23. What are the main organs of the alimentary canal? It contains the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach and small and large intestine rectum and anus.

24. List the accessory organs of the digestive system and explain why they are called “accessory”. The liver, salivary glands, gall bladder and the pancreas aid the processes of ingestion digestion play main roles in the digestive process

25. Define the term “peristalsis” and explain why it is important. Peristalsis is a series of muscle contractions. Peristalsis is a important and automatic process it moves food through the system.

Excretory System

http://www.livescience.com/27012-urinary-system.html

26. What is another name for the urinary system? Renal system

27. What is the purpose of the urinary system? The urinary system filters blood and create urine as waste

28. Give some examples of factors that can affect the amount of urine excreted each day. The consumption of certain types of food, the amount of liquid consumed and the amount of fluid lost through breathing and perspiration and medical conditions

29. What are the main components of the urinary system? kidneys,pelvis,uterus/bladder and urethra.
